Christmas

By Josephine Asbury, 1958

This year for Christmas why not send
Around the earth to foe and friend
A gift of love without an end
To fill the hearts of men?

Then greed and strife will surely cease,
And fellowship and trust increase
'Till all the nations live in peace
And right holds sway again.

Then will triumphant song resound,
And brotherhood of men abound,
As all unite the world around
To celebrate Christ's birth.

The message that he came to bring,
Still down the centuries thundering,
Let's hear; and stop our blundering.
'Tis peace, good will on earth.
