Reunion

By Josephine Asbury

We're together to-night!
Let the years fade away,
And lets be like youngsters
Light-hearted and gay.

With laughter and jest
Let's review the past years,
Our triumphs and joys,
Our worries and fears.

We'll forget there are wars
And a high tax bill, too.
And recall the good times
That together we knew.

Don't look now to see
We've the middle age spread,
Our actions are slower,
Grey hairs dot each head.

But pause for a moment
And think with a tear,
Of those from among us
Who no longer are here.

Then, let's pledge to each other
A friendship so true,
It will keep us together
'Till life here is through.

So sing the old songs
And be merry to-night
For us here together
The whole world looks bright.
